Natalie Suzanne Whiting
NATALIE SUZANNE WHITING
Edmonds, Wash.
Natalie Suzanne Whiting, 74, passed peacefully in Edmonds, Wash., on Feb. 25, 2021, following a fight with debilitating afflictions. Natalie was born and raised in Iowa City, graduated from City High School in 1965 and attended the University of
Iowa. Natalie left Iowa to enjoy the rugged beauty of the Rockies near Denver and later relocated to the Pacific Northwest near Seattle, where she delighted in the natural wonders of the Cascades and the Olympic Peninsula. Natalie loved music, the natural environment and cats. Natalie was preceded in death by her beloved cat Pottsie, who she credited for saving her life once.
Natalie was preceded in death by her parents, Beverly Pauline (Eason) Whiting and Elwin Clare Whiting.
Natalie is survived by brothers, Eric Whiting, David Whiting and Mark Whiting; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and grandnieces and -nephews.
In addition to her love of nature and cats, she was a strong advocate of voter rights. Natalie was very proud to have gone to Mississippi as a teenager with SNCC to register people to vote which left her with good memories and bad. Any contributions in Natalie's memory can be made to nature preservation, a good environmental cause, voter advocacy or a feline support group will be appreciated by Natalie.
