Nancy Rae McBurney, 70, of Bertram, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2022, at St. Luke’s Hospital. Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 7, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion, Iowa. Funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 8, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Campbell Cemetery in Bertram, Iowa.

Nancy was born on Feb. 2, 1952, in Anamosa, Iowa, the daughter of Robert and Leona (Walker) Shedek. She was a 1970 graduate of Springville High School. On Feb. 13, 1971, Nancy was united in marriage to Edward McBurney at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Stone City, Iowa. She farmed alongside her husband, until her children were born. Then her focus was her family. Nancy enjoyed cooking and celebrating family gatherings. As her family grew, so did Nancy’s heart; she became “Nana” to four beloved grandchildren. She served on the Bertram town council for 31 years. Nancy will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Nancy is survived and lovingly remembered by her husband of 51 years, Edward McBurney of Bertram; children, Angie (Cory) Wolf of Marion and Scott McBurney (Trisha Martinson) of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Carter, Kiley and Kadia Cole, and Brianna McBurney; brothers, Allen Shedek of Marion, Kevin (Joanne) Shedek of Central City, Iowa, and Keith (Penny) Shedek of Hiawatha, Iowa; and brothers-in-law, Dale (Chris) McBurney of Cedar Rapids and Jim (Lois) McBurney of Urbana, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
