Nancy Susan Neustel, 91, of Central City, died Tuesday, July 1, 2014, at Rockridge Care Center, Shellsburg. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 9, at Alice United Methodist Church, Center Point. The family will greet friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 8, at the church in Center Point. Burial will be at West Prairie Cemetery, Troy Mills.
Survivors include her children, Frank "Butch" (Kathy) Neustel, Allan "Bill" (Linda) Neustel, Linda (Larry) Druschel, David "Buster" (Susan) Neustel and Betty (Kent) Wright; grandchildren, Tracie Abbott, Matthew Neustel, Desi Druschel, Mindy Burke, LeAnn Holsapple, B.J. Neustel, Dustin Druschel, Cassie Burke, Keaton Wright, Karsten Wright and Callie Wright; and 17 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.
Nancy was born July 21, 1922, in Marion, Iowa, the daughter of Oval and Belinda (Shepard) Carpenter. She was a graduate of Alburnett High School. On June 26, 1941, she married Allan Phillip Neustel on their farm in rural Central City. She attended Alice United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school and was a member of UMW and Bible study groups for many years.
She was an avid reader and enjoyed gardening. She loved milking her cows and raising her chickens. She was "Granny" to everyone; her family was a very important part of her life. She enjoyed celebrating holidays and birthdays with family gatherings at the farm.
Memorials may be directed to Alice United Methodist Church or Camp Courageous.
