Nancy Jo Kindred, 67, of Palo, died Sunday, May 1, 2022, at St. Luke's following a short illness. A visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Palo Community Center. Burial will be held at a later date. Teahen Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Nancy is survived by her husband, Gary; three sons, Matthew (Robyn) Morris of Central City, Joseph (Heather) Morris of Quasqueton and Jeremiah Morris (Karen Stearns) of Palo; eight grandchildren, Kanan, Kolby, Kashden, Kingsley, Rhyley, Rhyker, Rhyett and Jeffrey; great-grandson, Weston; two brothers, Roger (Bonnie) Bentley of Shellsburg and Gordon Wayne (Deanna) Bentley of Amber, Okla.; brother in-law, Jerry (Lisa) Kindred of Palo; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her grandson, Kayden; her parents; and brother in-law, James Kindred.
Nancy was born Aug. 29, 1954, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Joseph and Betty Giger Bentley. She was a graduate of Kennedy High School. Nancy married Gary Kindred on May 1, 1993, in Cedar Rapids. She worked as a cashier at the Palo Mini Mart for 27 years.
Nancy loved being around people, she especially loved her grandchildren and her dogs. She had a strong work ethic and enjoyed the customers at the Palo Mini Mart, where she knew the regulars by name. She liked cookouts and, in her younger years, she enjoyed traveling.
Instead of flowers, memorials may be directed to University of Iowa Children's Miracle Network.
