Nancy Kay McMann, 83, of Newland, NC passed away peacefully on October 14, 2025. She is survived by her two daughters, Susan Manson (Sandra LaBaw) and Sandra (Robin) Tomney; and a brother, Dan (Carol) Patterson. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Neale; a daughter, Sarah Ann in infancy; and a brother, Larry Patterson.
Nancy was born February 27, 1942, in Marengo, Iowa, the daughter of Everett and Ruby (Fry) Patterson. She graduated from Marengo High School in 1960. Nancy was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart, Neale McMann in 1962. Nancy graduated from Paris Academy of Beauty in 1974 and received her Associate of Arts Degree from Kirkwood Community College in 1999.
Nancy was a lifelong resident of Iowa until retiring to Mansfield, MO and later to Newland, NC. Nancy worked for Collins Radio in Cedar Rapids, owned Nancy's Beauty Shop in Amana, was Traffic Manager at Klein Tools in Cedar Rapids and owned Nancy’s Books in Cedar Rapids. Nancy was a former member of the Walford United Methodist Church, where she led the Sunday School program and particularly enjoyed teaching the high school class. Nancy was a current member of the Newland United Methodist Church. She was a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Nancy enjoyed sewing, quilting, gardening, basket weaving, drawing, painting and training her horses. Nancy is also survived by her beloved dog and constant companion, Dillon.
Services will be at a later date. Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Services Marengo is assisting Nancy and her family. Memorials can be sent to English Springer Spaniel Rescue (ESRA) or Iowa Equine Rescue & Awareness League (IERAL).
