Nancy Kacere, 87, of Iowa City, passed away on April 2, 2024, at Lantern Park Specialty Care Center in Coralville. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m., Saturday, April 6, 2024, at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling Street SW. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 6, 2024, at Brosh Chapel, with Very Reverend Fr. Fred Shaheen presiding. Burial will be in St. George Cemetery, followed by a Mercy Meal at St. George Orthodox Church.
Nancy was born on June 7, 1936, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Abe and Julia (Risk) Kacere. She graduated from Cedar Rapids McKinley High School, and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree from the University of Iowa College of Nursing. Nancy worked at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics from 1958 until retiring in 1996. She enjoyed taking vacations to Las Vegas and Aruba. Nancy was known for her loving care and compassion for everyone she met.
Nancy is survived by her family including her niece Julie (Jerry) Abraham and family, nephew Don Kallail Jr. and family, niece Terri (John) Kallail Root, nieces Jennifer Kacere and Emily Kacere, her brother Charles T. Kacere; sister-in-law Patricia Kacere and her many Godchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her sister Ann (Don Sr.) Kallail.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. George Orthodox Church, University of Iowa College of Nursing or to Care Initiatives Hospice in her name.
