Nancy K. Ihns, 69, of Cedar Rapids died on Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2021, at her home following a courageous battle. A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday from 4 to 9 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 1620 E Ave. NE, Cedar Rapids. Teahen Funeral Home is serving the family.
Nancy is survived by her son, Matthew of Ely; daughter, Mégan (Zachary) Valenta of Cedar Rapids; five grandchildren, Alexaundra Paustian, Logan Burg, Braxton Hobbs, Maddox and Lincoln Valenta; sister, Gerry (Gary) Wheeler of Cedar Rapids; many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard in 2015; parents, Leland and Catherine; brothers, Terry, James, Robert and Leroy; and sister, Maxine.
Nancy was born on Dec. 12, 1951, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Leland and Catherine Foster Wahe. She graduated from Jefferson High School in 1970. Nancy married Howard Ihns on Nov. 25, 1972, at Trinity Unity Methodist Church in Cedar Rapids. She worked at Rockwell Collins for 42 years retiring in 2013.
Nancy enjoyed reading, shopping, watching and playing soccer in her younger years. She loved spending time with her family, friends and her cocker spaniels, Milo and Matilda Jane.
Instead of flowers, memorials may be directed to the ALS Association in Howard's memory.
