Nancy J. Hummell, 84, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Thursday, Nov. 4, 2021. A memorial service will take place at 1 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 8, 2021, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids, with a visitation one hour prior. Inurnment will follow the service at the Linwood Cemetery Mausoleum in Cedar Rapids.
Nancy was born Sept. 2, 1937, in Mount Pleasant, Iowa, the daughter of Roy and Genevieve (Stebbins) Mason. After high school, she went on to graduate from beauty school. On Feb. 22, 1958, Nancy was united in marriage to Keith A. Hummell in Mt. Pleasant. Nancy dedicated her life to raising her children. For 17 years she worked for Nash Finch Corporation, MeToo, Sunmart, and Econofoods. Nancy enjoyed the relationships she built with her customers. Nancy treasured baking and cooking for family get-togethers. She also enjoyed sewing and playing cards with her bridge club. Family card nights were a highlight in her life.
Survivors include her children, Kurt (Michelle) Hummell of Cedar Rapids, Jason (Jennifer) Hummell of Keystone, Iowa, and Brenda (John) Conyn of Spencer, Iowa; grandchildren, Ross, Adam, Joel, Luke, Paul, Janie and Jolie; great-granddaughter, Katie; and many brothers- and sisters-in-law.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Genevieve Mason; husband, Keith Hummell; grandson, Ryan Emken; and siblings, Robert Mason and Patricia Ortmayer.
