Nalvanko, Debra Ann
Debra Ann Nalvanko, 57, of 1302 Jackson Woods Ct. NW, Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, Nov. 4, 2012, at her home. Services: 10 a.m. Friday, at St. Pius X Catholic Church. Friends may visit from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Teahen Funeral Home and after 9 a.m. Friday at the church.
Debra is survived by her husband, Scott; six children, Morgan (Laird) Dahm of New Sharon, Jennifer (Jeremy) Sutton of Austin, Texas, Nicholas (Lindsi) Nalvanko of Des Moines and Sarah (Jamie) Moses, Joe (Robin) Nalvanko and Natalie Nalvanko, all of Cedar Rapids; nine grandchildren, Amelia, Taylor, Gabriel, Tanner, Lola, Lily, Eli, Will and Gia; her parents, Alvin and Jeanette Barten of Marshalltown; 11 siblings, Pam (John) Wells, Doug Barten, Mary (Dennis) Stalzer, Kathy (Bernie) Struzek, Bonnie (Jim) Condon, Tom (Kathy) Barten, Pat (Sarah) Barten, John (Sara) Barten, Paula (Mike) Schwartz, Maria (Chris) Hanson, and David (Kristina) Barten; and many nieces and nephews.
Her nephew, Leo Barten, preceded her in death.
Debra was born May 29, 1955, in Minneapolis, Minn., the daughter of Alvin and Jeanette Schwieters Barten and united in marriage to W. Scott Nalvanko on Sept. 30, 1978, in Marshalltown. After 28 years with Alliant Energy, she retired from there in 2004 as a dispatcher.
Debra's happiness came from being a wife, mother and grandmother. She loved cooking for and entertaining her family and friends. She loved being a homemaker and decorating her home for each season and holiday. Most of all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren being their Nana.
