Nagel, June Claire
June Claire Nagel died Thursday, Aug. 8, 2013, at her home in Parnell at the age of 73 years.
June was born Sept. 24, 1939, in LaSalle, Ill., the daughter of Earl and Hilda (Ulrich) Gealow. She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity United Church of Christ in LaSalle. June graduated from LaSalle-Peru High School and Junior College, then from Illinois State University, with a degree in elementary education. June was united in marriage to Glenn A. Nagel on Aug. 14, 1964, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Yorkville, Ill. June taught elementary school in Marseilles, Ill., and later stayed at home when she had her daughters. After raising her daughters she worked with CMT, Kendall County Home Health, Westel, MCI and Pearsons. June and Glenn moved to the Parnell area in December of 2001.
She enjoyed working on the computer, crossword puzzles and cooking. She was a past member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Yorkville and a current member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Conroy, where she was active in the ESR. June was also a member of the Kendal County Women's Farm Bureau.
June is survived by her husband, Glenn; three daughters, Grace Melles of North Aurora, Ill., Beth (Brian) Williams of Channahon, Ill., and Becky Nagel of Chicago; five grandchildren, Kyle and Thomas Melles, Lila and Olivia Williams and Jacob Diaz; a sister, Joyce (Greg) Carpenter of Williamsburg, Va.; a sister-in-law, Carolyn (Ron) Gengler of Somonauk, Ill.; a brother-in-law, Floyd (Marsha) Nagel of Newark, Ill.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
A Celebration of Life service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 12, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Conroy. Pastor Gary Sears will officiate. Burial will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Williamsburg.
