Nading, Helen R. (Waters)
Helen R. (Waters) Nading, 84, of Cedar Rapids, died peacefully at Manor Care on Wednesday, June 26, 2013. Services: 11 a.m. Monday at Teahen Funeral Home by Pastor Craig Bex. Burial: Cedar Memorial Cemetery. Friends may visit from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday and after 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Helen is survived by her two sons, Ross and Roger; two daughters, Connie Nading and Julie Cahill; four grandchildren, Shawn (Jenni) Nading, Laurie (Brian) Clark, Jodi Cahill and Brett Cahill; four great-grandchildren, Paul, Alex, Aiden and Colten, all of Cedar Rapids; sister, Shirley Nading of Cedar Rapids; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Cal; her parents; two sisters; and two brothers.
Helen was born Oct. 25, 1928, in Marion, the daughter of James and Lela (Cowan) Waters. She attended schools in Cedar Rapids, Marion and Lake City. Helen married Cal Nading on Feb. 11, 1945, in Cedar Rapids. She was employed by Collins Radio Company for 12 years and Cedar Rapids Schools Transportation as a bus aide for over 12 years, retiring in 1994. Helen was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and the 34th Infantry Division Association (Red Bull) Auxiliary-Eastern Iowa Chapter and the Cedar Rapids Schools Classified Council.
Helen was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother, who loved her husband, family and friends very much. She enjoyed gardening, music, theatre and sewing. Above all, family was her greatest joy.
