Myrtle Floyd, 85, died Sunday, Sept. 3, 2023, at Pinicon Senior Living following a brief illness.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 8, at the Goettsch Funeral Home, Anamosa, where friends may call from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Interment will be in the Riverside Cemetery. Surviving is her daughter, Debra Floyd; and three grandchildren, Louis, Ralyn and Brenton.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, David; a son, Dwayne; and siblings, Barbara Stetler, Miles, Nile and Samuel Mentzer.
Myrtle Adwilda Mentzer was born near Coggon on Sept. 15, 1937. She was the daughter of Nelson and Edna Minkler, Mentzer. Myrtle graduated from Coggon High school in 1957. She married David Floyd on Feb. 23, 1957, at Manchester, Iowa. Myrtle was employed at Collins Radio for 25 years, where she worked on line six, assembly and test repair. Myrtle has been a resident of Pinicon Senior Living since January of 2021.
Myrtle enjoyed quilting and sewing. She made lap quilts that she donated to area care facilities. In the summer months, she loved to garden. She and David like going on drives to view the leaves and to watch the birds.
