Davenport
Myrtle L. Engstrom, 96, of Davenport, passed away Saturday, July 22, 2017, at Ridgecrest Village. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 28, at Zion Lutheran Church, Davenport. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m.until time of service.
Myrtle was born on June 30, 1921, to Joseph and Ada Hultman, in Chicago. On June 22, 1946, she was united in marriage to the Rev. Richard Engstrom. They had three sons. After their three boys were grown, she went to work for Iowa State University in its employee insurance department.
She loved to knit, crochet, read and spend time with her family. She also loved to plan family trips, traveling and spending time down in Arizona. She enjoyed cooking and baking for her grandchildren. She was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church.
Myrtle is survived by her three loving sons, Carl (Charlene) Engstrom, Norman Engstrom and Gordon (Amanda) Engstrom; seven wonderful grandchildren, Jennifer (Kirby) Winn, Matthew (Molly) Engstrom, Joseph (Christine) Engstrom, Carrie (Thomas) Crowe, Meredith Engstrom, Linnea (Brandon) Tirrell and Whitney Engstrom; eight great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; her sister, LuLu; and a granddaughter, Kirsten.
Memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church, Davenport.
