Myron R. “Mike” Spore, 74, of Cedar Rapids Passed away, Friday June 28, 2024, at St. Lukes Hospital. A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. on Saturday, July 6, 2024, at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre, located at 2121 Bowling Street SW in Cedar Rapids.
Mike was born September 12, 1949, in Cedar Rapids, the son of John Edward and Mary Rachel (Phillips) Spore. He served his country in the Army during the Vietnam War. He married Rojean Pelz Michalec Spore on February 26, 1977. She passed in 2008. He then married Peggy Drennen on June 12,2014. Mike worked for many years as a machinist at Iowa Man and Terex as well as drove truck. He loved his family and all animals, enjoyed fishing, visiting South Dakota, tinkering, coffee, and crosswords.
Mike is survived by his wife Peggy; children Frank “Butch” (Tracy) Michalec, Carolyn Rubner, Stephen (Tammara) Michalec, Mark (Amy) Michalec, Lonnie (fiance Kathy) Michalec, Tina DeAnda, Sheila (Timothy Sheldon) McArthur and Niki (Terry) Meyer; 14 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; sisters Deanna Volesky, Frances Carney and Paulette Hoover; many nieces, nephews and extended family members; and fur babies Snowball and Dodge.
He is preceded in death by his parents, first wife Rojean, son in law Randy Rubner and two grandchildren.
