Myers, Robert C.
Robert C. Myers, 89, of Tiffin, died Sunday, Jan. 13, 2013, at Briarwood Care Center in Iowa City. Funeral services will be held noon Tuesday, Jan. 15, at Christ The King Lutheran Church, where a visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Coralville.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Christ The King Lutheran Church, Iowa City Hospice, and Briarwood Care Center.
Robert was born Oct. 17, 1923, in Iowa City, Iowa, to Albert and Mary Myers. He was a graduate of City High School in 1942. Following graduation, Robert attended a trade school in Des Moines, where he studied aviation mechanics. He served his country in the United States Air Corps from 1942-1946. On Jan. 16, 1954, Robert married LouAnn Medalen in Iowa City.
Robert started his career in Cedar Rapids working for Wilson's Meatpacking Co. He later worked for the Iowa Veterans Hospital for 35 years before his retirement in 1984.
He was a member of Christ The King Lutheran Church, NARFE, The American Legion, and was active with the Boy Scouts. He helped start the Babe Ruth League and Little League Baseball programs in Coralville. Robert enjoyed working in the garden and spending time with his family.
Robert is survived by his wife, LouAnn; a son, Mark (Deb) Myers; a grandson, Charles Myers; two stepgrandchildren, Jessica Stroud and Nick (Lisa) Stroud; and a great-grandchild, Ruby Myers.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents; and two sons, Christopher Myers and David Myers.
