Murty, Kenneth L.
Kenneth L. Murty, 83, died Monday, June 13, 2011, at the Keystone Nursing Care Center, Keystone, following an extended illness. Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 17, at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, 212 E. Sixth St., Vinton. Interment will be held at the Garwin Cemetery, Garwin. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established.
Kenneth was born Nov. 7, 1927, at Green Mountain, Iowa, to Ward and Lucile (Yetley) Murty.
On March 22, 1947, he was united in marriage to Marcella Uhlenberg. She preceded him in death on Sept. 28, 2010.
Kenneth served his nation in the Army/Air Force from 1945 to 1948. Before his retirement, he sold building supplies at McDowell's in Vinton.
He is survived by his son, John (Karen) Murty of Toledo; his daughter, Diane (Vollie) Sanders of Maple Grove, Minn.; his grandchildren, Annette (Jody) Kotouc of Toledo, Brad (Nicole) Murty of Conrad, Clint (Tiffany) Murty of Waterloo, Vollie “Chip” Sanders III of Albertville, Minn., and Brandon Sanders of Maple Grove, Minn.; his great-grandchildren, Ethan Kotouc, Megan and Paul Murty and Rachel Murty; and his sister-in-law, Dorothy Husak
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his son, Raymond Murty; and his daughter, Sandy Murty.
