Murray, Julie Lynn and Mickey Ken
Julie Lynn Murray was born Oct. 13, 1965, in Annapolis, Md., the daughter of Richard and Gayle (Lassister) Garner. Mickey Ken Murray was born Jan. 27, 1965, in Anderson, Ind., the son of Vaughn and Betty (Harris) Murray. Mick and Julie both received their Bachelors' degrees in Youth Ministries from Liberty University in Lynchburg, Va. They were united in marriage on July 19, 1986, in Prince Frederick, Md. They have lived in Iowa the last 20 years. Julie was a substitute associate at Mid-Prairie High School and Mick was co-pastor at the Kalona Mennonite Church. Mick and Julie died on Saturday, Feb. 4, 2012, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident near Tiffin. Mick was 47 and Julie was 46.
They are survived by their children, Brittany, Nicole, Chase and Jordan Murray of Wellman; parents, Gayle Garner of Kalona and Vaughn and Betty Murray of Seymour, Ind.; sisters, Beth Fiordelise (Bill) of Kalona, and Judy Smoll of Greenfield, Ind.; and a brother, Terry Murray (Beth) of Normalville, Pa.
They were preceded in death by Julie's father, Richard Garner; a brother, Douglas Murray; and a brother-in-law, David Smoll.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Mid-Prairie High School in Wellman. The Rev. Scott Swartzendruber and Dr. Terry Murray will officiate. Burial will be in the Sharon Hill Cemetery in Kalona. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at the Kalona Mennonite Church in Kalona, where the family will be present from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday.
A memorial fund has been established for the Murray Family Fund at Hills Bank.
The Yoder-Powell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
