Murray, Agnes B.
Agnes B. Murray, 90, of Iowa City, died Thursday, Feb. 11, 2010, at the Solon Care Center. Visitation will be Saturday at noon at St. Mary's Church in Iowa City. Funeral Mass will be celebrated following the visitation at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. Jeff Belger. Graveside services will be held at 4:15 p.m. Saturday at St. Patrick's Cemetery, Fairfax.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Iowa City Hospice of St. Mary's Cahtolic Church in Iowa City. Arrangements are with Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service.
Agnes was born Nov. 6, 1919, in Prairieburg, the daughter of Joseph and Frances Buchtela Houser. On Nov. 6, 1954, Agnes married Ralph F. “Bud” Murray at Immaculate Conception Church in Cedar Rapids. Agnes and Ralph lived in Cedar Rapids for many years, where they were members of St. Patrick's Church in Fairfax. They moved to Iowa City in 2003 and were members of St. Mary's Church.
Agnes is survived by three children and five grandchildren, Mary Ann Murray of Coralville and her sons, Patrick and Michael Henderson, Mike (Anne) Murray of Iowa City and their children, Michelle, Daniel and Kate, and Melissa Murray (Jim) Zender of Los Gatos, Calif.; son-in-law, Adam Kanis (Margaret Ann) of Oahu, Hawaii; four siblings, Josephine Less, Margaret Wells, Helen Lunacek and Bob (Rita) Houser, and sister-in-law, Helen G. Murray.
Helen provided companionship to Agnes during their time at Solon together.
Agnes was preceded in death by her parents' her husband, Ralph; her daughter, Margaret Ann; and five siblings, Edward, Mary, Clara, Ralph and Donald.
