Murphy, Robert P. 'Bob'
Robert P. “Bob” Murphy, 83, of Oxford, died Monday, Nov. 16, 2009, at Mercy Iowa City. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Oxford, with the Rev. Ed Dunn officiating. Burial, with military honors, will be at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Oxford. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday at the church, where a parish vigil service will be held at 7 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Bob's memory to Oxford First Responders or Oxford American Legion.

Robert Patrick Murphy was born March 26, 1926, near Oxford, the son of Frank and Genevieve (Mahoney) Murphy. Following graduation from Cosgrove High School he attended Iowa City Business College. During World War II, Bob served his country in the United States Air Force. For many years he worked for Oxford Beverage and City Carton Co. Most recently he and his wife, Marcy, operated B&M Bookkeeping in Oxford.
Bob was a very active member and strong supporter of the Oxford American Legion Post 537 and avid Iowa Hawkeyes fan and loyal Chicago Cubs fan.
His family includes his wife, Marcy; children, Jim Murphy (Kathy) of Farmington, Rick Murphy (Julie) of Olathe, Kan., Sheri Lane (Gary) of Homestead and Donna Christianson (Al) of Sioux Falls, S.D.; nine grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.
Bob's family wishes to express their thanks and sincere appreciation to Iowa Hospice, especially Joell and Christine for their loving care of Bob.
