Murphy, Ralph Louis

Ralph Louis Murphy, 85, of Iowa City, died Thursday, Oct. 29, 2009, at University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 2, at St. Patrick Parish Hall, with the Very Rev. Rudolph Juarez officiating. Burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service, with a rosary starting at 3 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, a general memorial fund has been established.

Ralph was born Aug. 31, 1924, in Iowa City, to Philip and Clara (Laschke) Murphy. He graduated from St. Patrick's High School. He married Aileen Schreiber on Oct. 5, 1950, in Iowa City. Ralph was a life long farmer and a real estate broker in the Iowa City area.

Ralph is survived by his wife, Aileen; six children, Steven, Michel, Jim (Barb), Tim, Teresa Auer and Ann Murphy; three grandchildren, Katie, Erin and Brian; and three siblings, Grace Scheetz, Rita Burns (Thomas) and Ellen Coan.

Ralph was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Marie Pastorino; and a brother, Raymond Murphy.
