Mullnix, Gerald L.
Gerald L. Mullnix, 74, of Williamsburg, passed away Thursday, Aug. 25, 2011, at Mercy Iowa City from complications of diabetes. Funeral services: 10:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 29, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, rural Williamsburg, with the Rev. Richard A. Meyer officiating. Burial will be in East York Cemetery, rural Williamsburg. Visitation: 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the church. Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo, is in charge of arrangements.
Gerald is survived by his wife, Nancy; three sons, Kenneth (Patti) of Williamsburg, Michael (Joanne White) of Parnell and David of Williamsburg; a daughter, Katherine Hunzinger of Williamsburg; 14 grandchildren, Justin, Michelle, Shannon, Steven, Nicholas, Ryan, Jessica, Brent, Matthew, Emily, Hanna, Mickala, Amy and Tyler; six great-grandchildren, David, Elizabeth, Noah, Madilyn, Kayna and Samantha; and a brother, Larry (Marge) of Williamsburg.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Gerald Leo Mullnix was born Feb. 18, 1937, in Iowa County, Iowa, the son of Harold Lester and Lora (Pundt) Mullnix. He graduated from Williamsburg High School in 1956 and married Nancy Lee Akers on June 10, 1959, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, rural Williamsburg. To this union three sons and a daughter were born. Gerald was a lifelong farmer and also worked numerous jobs in the Williamsburg and Oxford area, including J&S of Williamsburg and FS of Oxford. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church.
The family extends a special thank you to the Class of 1956 of Williamsburg High School, the doctors and staff of Mercy Hospital and Mercy Hospice of Iowa City.
A memorial fund has been established.
