Mullin, Mary Caroline
Mary Caroline Mullin, 72, of Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2011, at her home. Celebration of Life gathering will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 5, at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling St. SW.
Mary was born Feb. 18, 1938, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Joseph and Lucy Chavez. She married Riley Mullin on June 27, 1957, in Cedar Rapids. Mary worked at St. Luke's Hospital for 43 years in the dietitian department. She was a bartender at CRBC as well as being an avid bowler. Mary was an Avon representative for 25 years.
Among her talents and hobbies were playing the guitar, shopping at various stores and farmers markets and spending time with her dogs and her family, especially the grandkids and great-grandkids. Her grandson, Matthew, was the “light of her life.”
Mary is survived by her dog kids, Lupe, Zoey, LuLu and Bella; her daughters, LuAnn (Allen) Sillick and Macel (Keven) Ralston; her son, Patrick (Melody) Mullin; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a brother, Jesse (Diane) Chavez; her special niece, Christal (Jeff) Henderson; and her second family at St. Luke's Hospital.
She was preceded in death by her husband and her siblings.
