Mullan, Helen Marie
Helen Marie Mullan, 90, of Mechanicsville, answered the Lord's call on Wednesday, May 26, 2010 at the Mechanicsville Care and Rehabilitation Center. Services for Helen will be Wednesday, June 2, 2010, 1 p.m., in Morgan Funeral and Cremation Choices, Mount Vernon Chapel. Friends may call Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. in the chapel, where an Eastern Star service begins at 7 p.m. Burial in Rose Hill Cemetery, Mechanicsville.
Surviving Helen are her children: Stan (Janice) Mullan and John D. (Sherri) Mullan, both of Mechanicsville; a daughter, Diane (Ron) Gilligan, Duluth, Minnesota; a sister, Mary Cook, Cedar Rapids; many nieces, nephews and grandchildren.
Preceding Helen in death were her parents, Howard and Mabel Reynold Spitznagle; her husband, John H. “Moon” Mullan; and brothers, George and Ralph Kane.
Helen was born November 25, 1919 in Horton, Kansas. She lived in Oelwein and Hazleton before moving to Mechanicsville in 1969 from Cedar Rapids. Helen married John H. Mullan, March 29, 1969, Cedar Rapids. He died October 7, 1997. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and member of the First Presbyterian Church, Mechanicsville. Helen was Worthy Matron of the Evangeline Chapter #393 of Mechanicsville and was a 50-year member of the Order of Eastern Star.
Memorials in Helen's honor may be donated to the First Presbyterian Church or the Mechanicsville Volunteer Ambulance.
