Mueller, Robert Edward

Robert Edward Mueller, 87, of Golden Valley, Minn., and Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away peacefully  Wednesday, March 31, 2010, in the loving presence of his friends and family. Memorial services: 1:30 p.m. Monday, April 5, at Valley of Peace Lutheran Church, 4735 Bassett Creek Dr., Golden Valley, MN 55422.

Born in Minneapolis, Robert graduated in 1943 with a B.S.M.E. from the University of Minnesota and was a naval officer and patriot in World War II.  He joined his father, Paul B., and brother, Howard R., in business in 1946, moved to Iowa in 1965 and retired as president of Mueller Sales Corp. in 1990. He was a professional engineer, survivor of polio, an athlete, musician, tenor, entrepreneur, builder, stamp collector, gourmet cook, ship modeler, gardener, craftsman, world traveler, loyal friend, and beloved husband of Lorraine for 66 years.

Surviving are his wife, Lorraine (Gleseke); daughter, Ann Reite (Fred Waits); son, Guy (Marsha); grandson, Christian (Kirsten) Reite; granddaughters, Beth Reite, Emily (Ethan) Epstein and Melissa (Chet) Droessler; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Mabel; and brothers, Paul and Howard.
