Muck, Mabel E. Henle Johnston
Mabel E. Henle Johnston Muck, 83, died Sunday, Jan. 22, 2012, at the Belle Plaine Nursing and Rehab Center, following a lingering illness. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 25, at the Hrabak Funeral Home by Pastor Michael Stombaugh. Burial will be at a later date in Goldenrod Cemetery, Deep River. Visitation will be at 9 a.m. Wednesday until the time of the service.
Mabel was born Sept. 6, 1928, in Tama County, to Delbert and Edna Ehlers Coleman. In her early years, she taught school and did miscellaneous jobs. She had her own sewing business in Arkansas. She was a waitress and cook at several local businesses.
On April 9, 1947, she married Horace “Pat” Henle and later Harvey “Red” Johnston on Aug. 14, 1971.
She is survived by sons, Delbert Henle of Tonapah, Nev., Douglas (Linda) Henle of Belle Plaine, Dennis (Connie) Henle of Pella, and Richard (Misty) Henle of Coralville; daughters, Beverly (Richard) Foels of Oak Harbor, Wash., Kathleen Woodman of Hartwick, Elaine Henle of Montezuma, Melanie Henle of Marengo, and Denise (Dale) Beck of Jacksboro, Texas; sisters, Evelyn Clemann, Bernita Knudsen, Mary (Ray) DePauw, Florence (Paul) June, Frances (Vaun) Williams and Marilyn (Jim) Johnson; brothers, Raymond (Betty) Coleman and Gary Coleman (Jani Wren); also by 22 grandchildren; and 37 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Howard, Russell, George and James Coleman; sister, Bettie Bearden; two grandchildren, Mike Farrier and Angela Henle; and two great-grandchildren, Evan McKeone and Lucas Hegarty.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
