Moyer, I. James
I. James Moyer, 88, of Citrus Heights, Calif., passed away Wednesday, March 2, 2011, at his home. He requested no service and was cremated. Memorial services will be held later in the year.
Jim was born in Central City, Iowa, on Oct. 24, 1922, to James and Lena (Harris) Moyer. His parents, only sister, Romona Port, and son, David, preceded him in death.
Jim was a proud Marine, having served in World War II on Guadalcanal. While in re-hab in Santa Cruz, Calif., he met and married Joyce Campbell, his soul mate for 68 years. After farming in Iowa for 15 years the family moved to Sacramento, where they ran a karmelkorn shop in the Country Club Center. Later, working for the state of California, he then retired from the California State Department of Water Resources in 1986.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce; daughters, Laura (Rich) Hamilton and Dana (Richard) Greve; grandchildren, Timothy (Pam) and Daniel Hamilton, Benjamin and Sarah Greve; great-grandson, Griffin Hamilton; and many nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be sent to cancer research or charity of your choice in Jim's name.
