Mowry, Vivian (Schultz)
Vivian (Schultz) Mowry, 92, of Lost Nation, Iowa, passed away Saturday, Dec. 3, 2011, at the Colonial Manor of Amana in Amana, Iowa. A Celebration of her Life Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 8, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Lost Nation. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Lahey Funeral Home in Lost Nation. Burial will be in the Massillon Cemetery, Massillon, Iowa.
Vivian was born on Jan. 22, 1919, in Lost Nation, Iowa, the daughter ofEdward R. and Anna (Andreson) Schultz. She grew up on a farm northwest of Lost Nation and graduated from Lost Nation High School in 1936. She worked in Lost Nation as a homemaker with her aunt and took care of school teachers that boarded at homes.
She married Virgil N. Mowry on Feb. 14, 1942, on her parents' farm. Vivian and Virgil farmed near Clarence, Iowa, until 1947. In 1947, they moved to her parents' farm northwest of Lost Nation where they farmed until moving to Lost Nation in 1992. Virgil died on Nov. 20, 1999. In September 2002, Vivian moved to Lakeview Village at Amana, and in August 2008, she moved into Colonial Manor of Amana.
She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Lost Nation, and its circle, the Clinton County Farm Bureau, and past treasurer of Lost Nation Booster Club.
Vivian enjoyed cooking and had a great caring for all children. She was a good mother, foster parent and loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren very much. Her eyes would light up and lips smile whenever around them. She will be missed and remembered by all who knew her.
She is survived by a son, Jay (Leslie) Mowry of Swisher; a daughter, Margie (Ken) Ketterer of Deerfield Beach, Fla.; two grandchildren, Brad (Nancy) Mowry of Marion, and Jennifer (Barry) Howsden of Aurora, Colo.; six great-grandchildren, Peyton and Gavin Howsden, Brinkley, Chaz and Shelby Braden and Colton Mowry;
and a sister-in-law, Vonee Busch of Lost Nation.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; two sisters, Dorothy Busch and Esther Christensen; two brothers, Paul and Louis Schultz, and a sister-in-law, Vivian Seng.
Memorials may be given to Camp Courageous or your choice.
