Morrow, Shirley Ellen
Shirley Ellen Morrow, 76, of 997 Arica Ave., Marion, died Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2011, at her home. Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 3, at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Harlan Gillespie and Sherrie Ilg. The family will greet friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion, and one hour before the service at the church on Tuesday. Graveside services: 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at West Branch Cemetery, West Branch.
Survivors include her husband, Jim of Marion; daughter, Diane (Gary) Fickel of Iowa City; and two granddaughters, Megan (Patrick) Snyder of Iowa City and Lindsey Jo (fiance Derrick Dixon) of Iowa City.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Shirley was born Sept. 9, 1935, in Mechanicsville, the daughter of Ralph and Bertha (Busch) Campbell. She married James Walter Morrow on April 18, 1954, in Springdale. Shirley served as a business manager for the Marion Independent School District for 14 years and for an additional 14 years at the Iowa District East Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids. For the past three years, Shirley was a financial secretary for St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Cedar Rapids, where she was also a member, and a certified Stephen Minister.
She was passionate about gardening, flowering, baking, and spending time with her family.
