Morehead, Audrey
Audrey Morehead, 82, of Cedar Rapids, died at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha on Friday, Jan. 1, 2010. Services: 2 p.m. Monday at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel by the Rev. Richard Ernst. Interment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held after 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Survivors include her husband, Byron; children, Monica (Gary) Schroeder of Cedar Rapids and Russ (Beverly) Morehead of Carpenterville, Ill.; brother, Earl Ballou of Cedar Rapids; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Ralph and Donald Ballou.
Born Jan. 4, 1927, in Cedar Rapids, to Edwin and Kathryn Ballou, she graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1944. She married Byron Morehead on Nov. 27, 1946. She was employed by Hy-Vee Drug Town in northeast Cedar Rapids for 10 years.
Audrey liked to play games, read to her grandchildren, and embroidery. She and Byron enjoyed camping in Texas in their motor home.
