Moorman, Donald Joseph
Donald Joseph Moorman, 80, of Manchester, died at his home on Thursday, June 13, 2013.
He was born July 26, 1932, on the family farm near Cascade, the son of Joseph H. and Marie R. (Recker) Moorman. Don was raised and educated in the area, and graduated from Greeley High School.
Don served honorably in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. On Feb. 8, 1958, Don was united in marriage to Mary Boeckenstedt at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Greeley. Together they farmed southwest of Greeley until 2006 when he retired and moved to Manchester.
Don was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Greeley and was currently a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Manchester. Don enjoyed his morning coffee with a group of friends, farming, and machinery. He loved to check on the happenings on the family farm.
Survivors include his four children, Steve (Barb) Moorman, Ann Meyer, Brian (Joyce) Moorman and Dan (Dawn) Moorman, all of Manchester; nine grandchildren, Katie, Jared and Kristi Moorman, Ashley and Kelsey Meyer, Amber (Jared) Rook and Stacie Moorman, and Kara and Ben Moorman; five siblings, Lavern (Priscilla) Moorman of Edgewood, Jerry (Rosie) Moorman and Marge (Ernie) Thole, both of Manchester, and Leona (Ralph) Wegmann and Joyce (Loras) Jarding, both of Farley; his brother-in-law, Dave (Alice) Tauke of Dyersville; a sister-in-law, Norita Moorman of Manchester; and a special friend, JoAnn Harris of Manchester.
Donald was preceded in death by his wife, Mary A. Moorman; his parents, Joseph and Marie Moorman; his brother, John Moorman; and his sister, Joan Tauke.

Mass of Christian Burial: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 18, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Manchester, with the Rev. Dennis Cain officiating. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday, June 17, at Leonard-Muller Funeral Home in Manchester, where there will be a 3 p.m.rosary. Friends may also call one hour before services at the church on Tuesday. Interment, with military rites: St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, Manchester.
