Moorhead, Phillip E.
Phillip E. Moorhead, 88, of 3505 English Glen Ave., Marion, died at his home of cancer on Monday, Oct. 4, 2010. Funeral services: 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 6, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion, by the Rev. Mike Morgan. Family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Edith; two sons, Alan (Bonnie) of Coralville, and Steven (Karen) of Arlington Heights, Ill.; five grandchildren; and a sister, Patricia Schloasser of Lake Placid, Fla.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Peg Smith.
Phillip was born May 31, 1922, in West Branch, Iowa, the son of Henry and Margueritte Moorhead. He graduated from West Branch High School and the University of Iowa with a degree in electrical engineering. He was employed 37 years at Rockwell Collins. He was in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II serving in the Pacific Theater of Operations. He married Edith Sleichter on August 20, 1948. Phillip was a member of First United Methodist Church and served on several boards and committees. He was a Scout Master for Boy Scouts of America, Troop 35, a volunteer for Churches of Marion Food Pantry and Elderhostel.
Memorials can be given to First United Methodist Church or Mercy Hospice.
