Moore, Lanette Elaine
Lanette Elaine Moore, 78, of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, March 22, 2010, at Mercy Medical Center. Memorial services: 7 p.m. today at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Dan Wiersema. The family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at a later date at Center Point Cemetery.
Survivors include four children, Bruce A. Moore of Savannah, Ga., Laura L. Moore of Utah, Patrick O. Moore and wife Jo Ann Sexton-Moore of Osceola, Ind., and Traci Lynn Noethe and husband Jim of Cedar Rapids; six grandchildren, Uria Moore of Savannah, Joshua Patrick Moore of Osceola, Ind., Holly Limkemann, Amanda Noethe, James Noethe and John Noethe, all of Cedar Rapids; a brother, Bill Thennes of Bark River, Mich.; and a special friend, Paul Yeisley of Springville.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two siblings, Janis Mokosky and Donald McGinnis; and her husband, Vernon D. Moore Jr.
Lanette was born Oct. 23, 1931, the daughter of Fred and Hessie (Campbell) Thennes in Escanaba, Mich. She served with the U.S. Navy from 1952 to 1954. Lanette worked at Collins Radio, Turner Radio, waitressed at Woolworth's and was also a nanny for several years.
Lanette was a member of the WAVES. She enjoyed the Game Show Channel, gambling, especially slot machines, collecting lighthouses and traveling.
A memorial fund has been established in Lanette's memory.
