Moore, David Edward
David Edward Moore, 54, of Jesup, formerly of Marion, died Friday, June 10, 2011, at the Buchanan County Health Center, Independence, from an apparent heart attack. Funeral services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 15, at St. Athanasius Catholic Church, Jesup. Burial: church cemetery, with special rites conferred by the Fire Fighters Brigade. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Monday and 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at White Funeral Home in Jesup, with a parish rosary at 3 p.m. and vigil service at 7 p.m. Tuesday. Visitation continues for an hour before services Wednesday at the church.
Born Oct. 26, 1956, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to Clayton Edward Moore and Emma Jane (Grimes) Moore, he graduated in 1975 from Marion High School, where he received All State Honors in cross country and track. On March 13, 1998, David was united in marriage to Cheryl Ann Werner at the Little Brown Church, Nashua. Since 1981, David has been employed at the Mental Health Institute, Independence.
He was a longtime member of the Mental Health Institute Fire Department and MHI Credit Union board member.
David is survived by his wife, Cheryl Moore, Jesup; one daughter, Abby, and one son, Alex, both at home; one stepson, Ryan (Stacy) Wienhold of Waterloo; one stepdaughter, Karen (Jacob) Crosser of Nevada, Iowa; one stepgranddaughter; and two sisters, Debra (Michael) Smith of Springville and Sharon (Donald) Ransford of Robins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, Joseph Perez; and twin sister, Diane Novak.
A memorial fund will be established.
