Moore, Clara (Peach)
Clara (Peach) Moore, 98, of Cedar Rapids, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 10, 2011, at Meth-Wick. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 16, at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Pastor Bob David will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Inurnment will be a later date at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Survivors include her daughter, Kathie (Roger) Phelps of Cedar Rapids; a brother, Walter (Leanna) Pietzsch of Arizona; a grandson, Bradley (Amanda) Phelps and their children, Nyssa and Taryn of Rochester, Minn.; nieces and nephews; and special friends, Mark Elliot and Nancy (Peter) Woods.
Clara was preceded in death by her husband, Ron; parents; a brother, Ferd; and granddaughter, Cara.
Clara was active in First Congregational Church-United Church of Christ serving as president of Women's Fellowship, Sunday school teacher, a 40 year choir member and served as past president of Iowana Camp Fire Girls, Methwick Manor Auxiliary and Community Concerts Association. She was also past State President of the Iowa P.E.O. Clara was a charter member of Marion and Cedar Rapids Fine Arts Council and Friends of Music at Coe. She served on the board of trustees of the Meth-Wick Community, a member of chapter LU of P.E.O, the Beethoven Club, Alpha Xi Delta Sorority and Elmcrest Country Club. She volunteered with HACAP in literacy for adults, served as a guide at Brucemoore, a committee member for continuing education at the University of Iowa and during World War II she served as a grey lady.
She was honored by her P.E.O Chapter, LU, when a chair in the new Fine Arts Building at Cottey College, NV was given in her honor. She was an enthusiastic supporter of both the Cedar Rapids Symphony and Theatre Cedar Rapids. She was fortunate to have been able to attend a 10 day seminar at Southern Illinois University conducted by Fred Werring. She also had the privilege of being the escort for Arthur Fiedler when he and his Boston Pops Orchestra were in Cedar Rapids.
