Moore, Art Cody
Art Cody Moore of Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2011, at Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Hiawatha. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories where friends may call after 10 a.m. Saturday.
Art was born Jan. 23, 1932, in Oklahoma, to Lenard and Ermon Moore. Art spent his early years hunting and fishing with his brothers. He enjoyed working on cars and eventually selling cars for dealerships in the Cedar Rapids area.
Art served in the United States Army during the Korean War. In 1957 he moved to Cedar Rapids, where he met and married his wife of 49 years, Virginia who preceded him in death. . In retirement he loved to play golf. He also spent time boating and jet skiing with family.
Art is survived by two children, Leslie (Brett) Urban of Fort Myers, Fla., and Carl Moore (fiancee Tina Ripple); and his grandchildren, Alexander Urban, Logan Urban, Michael Moore, Katie Moore, Autumn Ripple and Ashley Ripple.
He is also survived by two sisters, June (Jim) Strickland of San Antonio, Texas, and Wanda (Arliss) Daniels of Fort Smith, Ark; and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial donations may be made to the Hospice House in Hiawatha.
Due to recent construction, it is required that visitors to Cedar Memorial enter making a right turn from west bound First Avenue (heading toward downtown).
