Montz, Kenneth E.
Kenneth E. Montz, 88, died Monday, Aug. 30, 2010, at Mechanicsville Nursing & Rehab. Visitation will be held from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at Chapman Funeral Home, Clarence, with a masonic service at 2 p.m., followed by burial at Rose Hill Cemetery, Mechanicsville, with military rites provided by American Legion Post 309.
Survivors include a daughter, Susan (Carter) Mullen of Scottsdale, Ariz.; and sons, Brian (Kathy) of St. Petersburg, Fla., Brent (Jody) and their children Dylan, Drew and Carly of Mechanicsville.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth in 2008.
Kenny was born in Bennett, Iowa, on June 26, 1922. He graduated from Tipton High School in 1939. He served in the Navy from 1942 to 1946. In 1949, he married Ruth Meyer. They moved to Mechanicsville, and he went into the International Harvester business, until he retired in 1986. He was a member of the VFW, American Legion, Freemont Lodge No. 616 and El Kahir Shrine and Order of Eastern Star. Kenny was the first president of the Lincoln Booster Club and instrumental in starting the football and wrestling programs.
