Montross, Kathryn
Kathryn Montross, 84, of Cedar Rapids passed away on Saturday, Dec. 10, 2011, at St. Luke's Hospital following a brief illness. A private memorial graveside service will be held at a later date. Entrusted with the arrangements is Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
She is survived by a daughter, Mary Cash; son, Bruce (Chris) Montross; five grandchildren, Christine (Tim) Kleiman, William (Mary) Cash, Michael Cash, Matthew (Tina) Montross and Andrew (Michelle) Montross; five great-grandchildren, Sarah Kleiman, Abagail Kleiman, Noah Montross, Brittany Parent and Braxton Parent; a brother, Eldred Goodman; sister-in-law, Marion (Roger) Sirowy; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Sidney Earl Montross; and a brother, Dean Goodman.
Kathryn Montross was born Dec. 26, 1926, the daughter of Ivan and Edith (Jones) Goodman. She was united in marriage to Sidney Earl Montross on Oct. 30, 1943. Kathryn was a life long member of Eastern Star. Her “green thumb” (gardening) was another one of Kathryn's hobbies. Her main enjoyment in life was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They were the heart and soul which truly brought the most beauty and joy into her life.
The family would like to thank the staff and residents at Evergreen Estates III, St. Luke's Hospice, St. Luke's Five East staff and St. Luke's Pet Pal Teams.
A memorial fund has been established.
