Montgomery, Frances Elizabeth
Frances Elizabeth Montgomery, 60, of 1025 20th St. SE, Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2011, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha. Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 6, at Gospel Tabernacle Church, Cedar Rapids, by Pastor Joe Pledge. Friends may call from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church before the service. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Arrangements by Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.
Frances is survived by her husband, Joseph Montgomery Sr.; daughters, Shawnda (Myron) Wade, Orlando, Fla., and Felicia McKinney, Cedar Rapids; sons, Grady Daniels Jr., Cedar Rapids, and Joseph (Erica) Montgomery Jr., Cedar Rapids; and grandchildren, Raije Doctor, Demarcus Daniels and Eleecia Ratcliff. Also surviving are her uncles, Francis Baker and Nathanial Baker; sisters, Pastor Betty Baker, Alfreda Fakorzi, Geneva Beets and Mary Holliday; brothers, Alfred Johnson and the Rev. Alfred Holliday; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Frances was preceded in death by her father, Alfred Holliday; mother, Genevieve Holliday; and four sisters, Jeanetta Hopkins, Ellen Williams, Darlene Holliday and Gladys Holliday.
Born Nov. 8, 1950, at St. Francis Hospital in Kewanee, Ill., Frances was the daughter of Alfred and Genevieve (Baker) Holliday. On Dec. 3, 1983, Frances was united in marriage to Joseph Montgomery Sr. She was a member of Free Women in Christ and the Gospel Tabernacle Church.
Frances loved cooking and spending time with her family and friends.
