Montgomery, Elizabeth 'Betty'

Elizabeth “Betty” Montgomery, 93, of Marion, formerly of Englewood, Ohio, passed away Nov. 16, 2009, at Village Ridge. A memorial service will be held at a later time in Englewood, Ohio. Local arrangements by Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Marion.

Survivors include her son, Stephen (Diane) Montgomery of Marion; grandsons, Tom (Laurie) Montgomery of Cedar Rapids and Todd (Renae) Montgomery of Van Meter; and five great-grandchildren, Peyton, Gavin, Trae, Slade, and Cierra.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert “Bob” Montgomery, of 61 years; her sister, Helena Guisinger; her brother, Melvin Guisinger; and her parents, Alma (Kloeppel) Guisinger and Joseph Guisinger.

Betty worked for many years in the polling places for elections in Dayton and Englewood, Ohio. She was also very active in PEO chapters AK and CK. She was always into crafts and needlepoint. Two of her passions were playing bridge and rooting for the Cincinnati Reds. She was able to be with her family in Iowa for the past year and delighted in the time spent with her youngest great-granddaughter, Cierra.
