It is with great sadness that the family of Monte Ruprecht announces his peaceful passing at the age of 58 on the evening of Wednesday, Nov. 8th . He had his loving children by his side.
Monte was a simple, down to earth man and he was grateful for the things he had in life. He enjoyed doing things around the home, tinkering with broken items, and simply being with family - including going “junking” with his late wife, Shelly. Finding collectibles at Goodwill, Stuff Etc., and at various auctions brought Monte joy. A die-hard Chicago Cubs and Iowa Hawkeyes fan as well as history buff, Monte collected many trinkets and items to put on display around his home. When he could, going to Chicago Cubs baseball or Iowa Hawkeyes football games was a fun pastime for Monte throughout
his life,
especially when he got to go with his sons.
Nature was important to Monte and he always had a deep appreciation for it. He enjoyed going fishing, deer hunting and mushroom hunting as well as walking trails and looking for arrowheads. Monte particularly enjoyed spending time with Shelly tending to the flower beds, often sitting in their patio swing together afterward admiring their hard work and the peaceful environment around them. As a big family man, at the end of the day, being with his wife and showing up for his children and grandchildren is what he cared most about.
Alongside Shelly, Monte took pride in being a grandparent. To his grandchildren, he was “Papa”. To his children, he was “dad”, and to many nieces and nephews, he was “Uncle Monkey”.
Monte is survived by his sons, Mitchell Ruprecht and Myles Ruprecht; his daughter, Riley (Brandon) Hackman; four grandchildren, Olivia, Gavin, Aubrey and Vivian; his mother Marilyn Baird; siblings Abby Trusty (Bob), Holly (Scott) Niernberger Baird, Heidi (Jeff) Kaufman, Steve (Christine) Meeker; his mother-in-law, Joanna Bellach; his step mother-in-law, Norma Cress; siblings-in-law Jennifer (David) Slife, Jason (Marti) Bellach, Sandra (Jeff) Ahrendsen, Jill Hopkins and Jeff (Jill) Hopkins. Additionally, Monte was an uncle to many nieces and nephews including several great-nieces and nephews.
Monte was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Shelly Ruprecht; father, Gar Ruprecht; stepmother, Nancy Ruprecht; father-in-law, Howard Cress; step father-in-law, Larry Bellach; stepfather, Griz Kruckenberg; and he and Shelly’s beloved dog, Diesel.
Per his wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral. Monte was cremated and wished for his ashes to be split among family and placed alongside his wife’s ashes in their flower bed. The family will notify loved ones in the future when a Celebration of Life is scheduled.
