Kathleen J. Monaghan was born Oct. 4, 1930, to Joseph and Emma (Elick) Carroll. She married Leonard Monaghan on June 20, 1953, in Cedar Rapids. She graduated from Mercy School of Nursing and was employed many years as an operating room nurse with Mercy Hospital. Kathleen was a member of St. Patrick Parish, Altar and Rosary Society, Our Family Circle and National Society Catholic Order of Foresters.
Kathleen loved life, possessed a deep faith and spent her lifetime helping others. She was a loving daughter, wife, sister, mother, grandmother and friend. Since her move to Missouri in late 2009, she has been surrounded by family, made new special friendships and enjoyed the final chapter of her life. She continued to light up the room with her smile and give her matter-of-fact opinions. We celebrate her life and will miss her greatly.
Memorials may be sent in her name to St. Patrick's Catholic Church.
