MOLLIE R. SIMONSEN Cedar Rapids Mollie R. Simonsen, 41, of Madison, Wis., formerly of Cedar Rapids, died suddenly April 5, 2016, in Madison from complications of Crohn's disease. There will be private services for the family only. Mollie and her sister, Amy, lived in Cedar Rapids in their younger years until moving with their mother, Marla, to Madison. There both girls graduated from high school. Mollie then went to the University of Wisconsin, found a career and raised her family. Mollie is survived by her two sons, Kedrick and Mason Simonsen, both of Madison; a brother, Jon Wayne Simonsen of Cedar Rapids; a sister, Amy Simonsen of Madison; two stepsisters, Dana Lucas of Cedar Rapids and Crystal Jackson of Danville, Ill.; her father, Dennis (K-Lea) Simonsen of Cedar Rapids; her mother, Marla Simonsen of Madison; a very special niece, Shiloh Simonsen of Madison; and a grandson, Kaiden Simonsen of Madison. Also surviving are her aunts, Barb Struchen of Marion, Tina Schwartz of Omaha, Neb., and Mary Kellogg of Lakewood, Colo.; grandmother, Delores Simonsen of Lakewood, Colo.; grandfather, Lester Hollander of St. Petersburg, Fla.; and an uncle and aunt, Scott and Sue Hollander. She was preceded in death by her grandfather, LeRoy Simonsen; grandmother, Phyliss Hollander; great-grandparents, Sam and Edith Cohen; great-grandparents, Jim and Evelyn Rose; and brother, Jessie James Simonsen. Mollie will be dearly missed by her entire family. Although she had a lifelong illness, she never complained about it and made the best of everything.
