Mohwinkle, Mark G.
Mark G. Mohwinkle, 48, of Marion, died Thursday, Oct. 22, 2009, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids, from a heart attack. Funeral Mass: 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 27, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marion by Father John Gossman. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion, where a parish vigil service will begin at 5 p.m. Burial: Oak Shade Cemetery, Marion.
Survivors include his wife, Theresa of Marion; his children, Martin Dale and Melissa Marie, both of Marion; his parents, Dale and Mary Mohwinkle of Marion; his siblings, Jerry (Pam) Mohwinkle of Hiawatha, Mike (Paula) Mohwinkle of Colorado, Brian (Jill) Mohwinkle of Marion, Teresa (Dennis) Fitzpatrick of Marion and Mary Kay (Brent) Bartz of Cedar Rapids; his in-laws, Doug and Bernie Mercil of Marion; his beloved dog, Dutchess; and many other loving family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
Mark was born September 10, 1961, the son of Dale and Mary (Martin) Mohwinkle in Cedar Rapids. On May 3, 1986, he married Theresa Mercil at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marion. He was an employee of Hy-Vee for 32 years.
Mark graduated from Marion High School and Mount Mercy College. He enjoyed camping, fishing, dancing, and music. After living in Kansas City he became a die hard Chiefs fan. Mark had a unique talent for art and still today has some of his work on display at Mount Mercy College. He was also known for his barbecue and everyone loved his infectious laugh. Mark was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marion.
Mark was a loving husband, father, son, brother, and friend. He touched many lives in many ways and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established for Mark's children.
