Moffit, Roy Dale
Roy Dale Moffit died Thursday, Feb. 14, 2013, in Parnell, at the age of 51 years.
He was born Feb. 13, 1962, in Grinnell, Iowa, the son of Harold and Judith Jo (Knipfer) Moffit. He attended school in the Cedar Rapids area. He recently attended Kirkwood Community College, where he received his CDL; Roy was so proud of this accomplishment. He was a truck driver for L.L. Pelling in North Liberty. Roy enjoyed spending time with his son hunting, fishing, boating, camping and horseback riding.
He is survived by his partner, Annette Van Thournout of Parnell; a son, Brayden Moffit of Sigourney; his father, Harold (Delilah) Moffit of Central City; a brother, William Moffit of Fairfax; a nephew, Mac Moffit of Fairfax; his best friend, Dave (Lori) Shepard of Ladora; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Judith Stewart.
Celebration of Life Service will be held 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 18, at Powell Funeral Home, Williamsburg. Elder Alan Trumpold will officiate. Burial will be in Piersol Cemetery, rural North English. Visitation will be on Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. at the funeral home.
A general memorial fund has been established.
