Moffit, Boneta 'Bonnie' May
Boneta ‘Bonnie' May Moffit, 77, of Stanwood, died Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2009, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City after a courageous battle with cancer for 18 months. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Fry Funeral Home in Tipton, with the Rev. Ronald Lashmit officiating. Burial will follow in the Tipton Masonic Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Bonnie May Thurston, daughter of James Herbert and Grace Thelma Wagner Thurston, was born Feb. 6, 1932, in Tipton. She attended Tipton High School. On Jan. 1, 1955, Bonnie was united in marriage to Charles Wesley Moffit in Rock Island, Ill. Bonnie was a homemaker, farmwife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and custodian for Union Trust and Savings Bank (Community State Bank) of Stanwood for many years. She was a lifetime member of the VFW Auxiliary of Tipton, member of the Moose, member of the Women of The Moose (W.O.T.M.), and the Red Hat Society of Tipton and Iowa City.
Bonnie is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, George and Debra Moffit of Tipton; daughter and son-in-law, Candy and Michael Stolte of Stanwood; grandkids, Mandi (Kurt) Feltes, Renee (Mathew) Fonteyne, Beth Stolte and Travis Moffit; great-grandkids, Corinne Fonteyne, Logan Stolte, Olivia Fonteyne and Andrew Feltes; and brothers, Albert (Lois) Thurston of Smyrna, Ga., and Marvin Thurston of Clarence.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles on May 15, 2009; sisters, Betty Ann Cozad and Peggy Foxworth; and brothers, Jack Thurston, Earl Thurston, Robert Thurston, Fred Thurston and Tommy Thurston.
