Mixell, Ellen F.
Ellen F. Mixell, 72, of Tipton, died peacefully Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012, at 8:15 p.m. in her home, with her family by her side. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7, at Fry Funeral Home, Tipton, with the Rev. Ron Lashmit officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Ellen was born Dec. 13, 1940, in Iowa City, the daughter of William H. and Elle A. Lunow Sander. She was a member of the class of 1959, graduating from Clarence High School. On June 16, 1962, Ellen was united in marriage to Elmer “Nick” Mixell in Stanwood. Ellen was a homemaker and enjoyed counted cross-stitch, crocheting and mending things for her family. She worked at Rockwell International for nine years and US Nameplate for two years. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Stanwood.
Ellen is survived by her husband, Nick of Tipton; daughter, Kim (Chad) Gadke of Tipton; son, Frank Mixell of Burlington; brothers, Leroy Sander and Everett (Irene) Sander of Tipton; three grandchildren, Kyle, Keely and Karlee Gadke; her very special friends, Carolyn Cooper of Apache Junction, Ariz., and Carol Worby of Stanwood; and her dog, Wishbone.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Marie Sander and Dorothy Parrott; grandson, Kameron Gadke; and niece, Donna Zimmerman.
