Mittan, Donna I.
Donna I. Mittan, 87, died Monday, Aug. 17, 2009, at Hallmark Care Center in Cedar Rapids following a lingering illness.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 22, 2009, at the United Methodist Church, 105 Prospect, in Blairstown with Rev. Jena Manchester officiating. Committal Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Spring Grove Cemetery in Covington. Friends may call at Phillips Funeral Home, 108 Fremont St. NW, in Blairstown from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday. A memorial fund has been established.
Donna was born in Ionia on May 22, 1922, to Otto and Sylvia (DeGroff) Usher. She was united in marriage to Charles E. "Ed" Mittan on Sept. 14, 1940.
Those left to cherish memories are son, Paul of Blairstown; grandchildren, Michael (Angie) Mittan of Council Bluffs and Pamela (Chris) Pippert of Belle Plaine; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Delbert Usher, her twin, and her brother, Paul E. Usher, both of Cedar Rapids.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles "Ed"; her parents; a brother, Harold Usher; and three sisters, Alice Swinton, Imogene Kruse and Pearl Usher.
