Mitchell Thomson, 30, passed away during a fishing outing, with his brother and good friend, on Sunday, December 8, 2024. Visitation will be from 12 to 7 p.m. Sunday, December 15, 2024, at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling Street SW. Private family services and burial will be held. A Celebration of Life will be held in the Spring at the Sutliff Store.
Mitchell was born February 26, 1994, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Danny and Julie (Ketchum) Thomson. He graduated from Lisbon High School, class of 2012. Mitchell was employed at the Lisbon School District. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, trapping, going to races, casinos, auctions and was known as the “Scrapping King”. Mitchell enjoyed spending time with his long-term girlfriend Jessica Sass, who he planned to propose to at Christmas, and their dog, Max.
Mitchell is survived by his parents Danny and Julie Thomson; his brother Ryan (Danielle) Thomson; three nephews Liam, Tyson and Ryder; his sister Christine (Brian) Thomson-DeWitt; fiancé Jessica Sass; his sister-in-law Hailey Thomson and nephew Wyatt; his maternal grandmother Carol Ketchum; future father and mother-in-law Raymond and Melanie Sass; his dog Max; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Francis and Marie Thomson; maternal grandfather Mervin Ketchum, and his brother Nick Thomson.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the family.
