Mitchell K. McCrea, 25, of Olin, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2016, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City. He gave the gift of life by being an organ donor.
His funeral service will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, at Lahey Funeral Home in Olin. A visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Mitchell Keith McCrea was born Sept. 6, 1991, to Darcy Keith and David McCrea in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He graduated in 2009 from Millard West High School in Omaha, Neb.
Mitch liked spending his time fishing, golfing, mechanically fixing things and welding. He enjoyed football and hockey. He had a love for dogs, especially his dog, April.
Those left to cherish his memories are his parents, Darcy and Brad Genners of Chapin, S.C., and David McCrea of Olin; a sister, Holly (Alec Kreger) McCrea of Olin; a brother, Aaron (Tessa) Genners of Omaha; three nephews, Kole, Karsen and Eli Kreger; a niece, Olivia Genners; his girlfriend, Holly Bedenbender, and her children, Travis Bedenbender and Mae Lynn Dugan; his grandparents, Elbridge "Buck" Keith, Janice McCrea
and Terry (Fran) Genners; a great-grandmother, Nadine Beadel; four uncles, Don (Denise) McCrea, Dale (Patty) McCrea, David (Cassie) Keith and Dan (Kelly) Genners; two aunts, Debbie (Jim) Kusmerz and Dana (Terry) Thies; and cousins, Keil McCrea, Glenn (Leah) McCrea and their child, Everly, Kara McCrea, Michael Keith, Skylar and Jayden Genners, Erik (Nikki) Kusmerz, Sarah Kusmerz, Kelsey Williams and her child, Jayben, Morgan (Zach) Shurtz and their child, Hunter, Nick (Jessica) Thies, Heather Linn Nallavelli and her child, Shannon, and Jennifer Linn and her child, Cadence.
He was preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Elbridge (Amelia) Keith; maternal grandmother, JoAnn Keith; paternal grandfather, Darrel McCrea; an aunt, Diane Linn; an uncle, Keith Ray; and his twin sisters, Megan and Melissa.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be left in his honor to Friends of the Animals Animal Shelter in Tipton.
