Mitchell, Lawrence J. 'Larry'
Lawrence J. “Larry” Mitchell, 48, lifetime resident of Iowa City, died at his home on Sunday, March 21, 2010, of natural causes. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Iowa City. A time for Larry's family and friends to gather will be held from 10 a.m. Friday until the services at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Larry's memory to On With Life, Brain Injury Rehabilitation Specialists, 715 SW Ankeny Rd., Ankeny, IA 50021; 1-(800) 728-0645.

Lawrence Joseph Mitchell was born July 19, 1961, in Iowa City, the son of Donald J. and Alice M. (Stock) Mitchell. He attended Iowa City schools, graduating from West High School in 1980. For many years he worked at Goodwill, where he enjoyed his work and his friends around him there. Larry was a man who enjoyed life's simple pleasures, traveling, listening to music, going to the movies, hanging with his friends, going to the library for hours and trips to the Mall of America.
His family includes his sister, Wanita Howard (Bill) of Coralville; brothers, Dennis and Robert Mitchell of Phoenix, Ariz.; several nieces and nephews; uncle, Marion Stock (Esther) of Iowa City; aunt, Grace Stock of Clinton; many cousins; long time family friend, Dorothy Ambrose of Coralville; and his best friends, Dan and Flo of Iowa City.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
